The Tournament was held in John Wallis Sport Hall, Ashford, Kent on Saturday, 3 March 2018.

There were some members of the SEE Ashford Club who volunteered to sponsor for the trophies and medals of each categories.

Thus, the winning prizes were presented by the person who had sponsored the respective categories’ trophies and medals.

On top of the trophies and medal, the winners and runners up were also presented with a SEE Ashford T-Shirt.  Chief Vice Chairperson of the Nepalese Community, Mr Chakra Rai, was requested to present the T-Shirt to the winners and the runners up.

Eight officials who helped run the event were also presented with an official trophy and a medal by Mrs Rajdevi Gurung (Chairperson of the Ladies Committee) and Mr Shreeprasad Limbu (Advisor of the SEE Ashford Badminton Club/Ex Chairperson of the Nepalese Community) respectively.

Secretary of the Club, Mr Ram Prasad Limbu, announced the names of other sponsors and he, on behalf the President and the Club, thanked them for their generosity.  The sponsors were as follows:

Mr Chakra Rai, Chief Vice Chairperson of the Sagarmatha Gurkha Nepalese Community Ashford, highlighted the importance of the sport adding a saying, ‘Our elderly used to say that where numbers of temples are added, numbers of jails would fall. Similarly, if numbers in sports’ clubs increase then numbers in patients decrease!’

President of the UKNBA, Mr Lokjit Gurung, expressed his amusement by congratulating to all winners, participants and the SEE Ashford Badminton Club for the successful event. He also reminded of upcoming UKNBA events – UKNBA Badminton tournament and meeting scheduled on 7th and 18 of April 2018 respectively.

Finally, the President of the SEE Ashford, Mrs Bimala Limbu, summed up the event by thanking all those who made themselves available for the day despite the fact of the bad weather and she continued to express her gratitude to all participants, supporters and the team for making the event so successful and memorable, reminding that the annual SEE Ashford Open Badminton Tournament would always take place on Saturday of the first week of March.
